Miftachul Bari is a partner and legal consultant for CIPatent. He graduated from the University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta and holds a degree in law. He has been involved in a number of international IP litigation in various matters including the pharmaceutical field. His main fields of activity include optics, computers and software, precision mechanics and IP aspects of the internet. He specializes in the protection of computer software (concerning both patent and copyright aspects of the protection) and protection of databases. His professional experience in the IP field covers almost every aspect of the IP protection, from the establishment to the enforcement of IP rights, including patents, industrial designs, trade marks, copyrights and unfair competition. He has gained experience in patent prosecution and patent litigation (infringement actions, and revocation actions).
He has also practiced in the areas of consumer's protection, domain name registrations, and anti-monopoly and unfair business competition law as well as civil and criminal litigations, drafting and negotiating related to foreign/domestic investment and joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, international business transactions, general corporate and commercial law matters. He has published a number of articles on intellectual property law and corporate/commercial law issues. He is also a member of a number of professional IP organizations.
